Job offer, work as a translator!

There is an offer of employment for talented and serious minded individuals who would not mind to work either as a full time staff or part time in a translation company. Your objective will include subtitle translation of foreign TV program such as movies, sitcom，variety show etc.
If you are interested, please read the following content carefully, it will make you understand more about the position.

Who should apply?

• If you have good translation skills in English.

• If you plan to emigrate abroad and would like to use the opportunity to get yourself familiar with western culture.

• If you believe you have spent too much effort on vocabulary and still dissatisfied with your communication skills or you want to improve your oral and listening English, so as to enhance your communication skill with westerners.

• If you have learnt English for many years, presently working in an environment with no demand to use English and are worried that your English standard would deteriorate.

• If you are working in the field of foreign trade, yet, feel dissatisfied that the current job only require you to speak very simple English about your product and would like to work in a constantly challenging English environment.

• If you feel the current life is too boring and would like to broaden your horizon by exposure, to real western culture.

• If you would like to give yourself a push, towards recognizing your own shortcoming and thereby forcing improvements in your English vocabularies and usage.

• If you are considering working as full time translator, and not sure if you can handle the job or looking for some job experience or reference to help to find a full time job in future. We would send out reference letter to those who have worked with us for over 1 year. Yet, please notice, we would only send out very honest reference letter, if your performance is far from ideal, we would just say so directly.

Who should NOT apply?

Since we are much more demanding than most translation house or direct client and we have very low tolerance of error. We would impose heavy penalty for those who make mistake AND do not inform us that they do not understand a particular sentence.(We would not impose penalty on the translator who have already highlighted that part and inform us they do not understand that section.) We only punish the translator who is not willing to voice out the problem.

• If you do not like to stand that pressure, if you do not like to point out your own error(s), if you do not like to stay in an environment which you have to voice out your own short coming, if you do not like to be punished when you make mistake, if you are eager to get some income when you have done something, no matter if it is correct or not, then please do not apply.

• We need to translate lots of different TV program, therefore, the translators are expected to have good understanding on US slang. If you do not have good knowledge of slang, you have to have the EAGERNESS to devote tremendous effort to improve your understanding of slang.

• If you are not familiar with US slang and are not willing to pay lots of effort to enhance your understanding of US slang, please do not apply.

• We have strict requirements of deadlines. Generally, the translator can have 3 days to finish translating a 1 hour TV program. If you cannot spare over 20 hours to work on our project, please do not apply.

• You need to spend lots of time to get familiar with our requirements, to learn how to use the program, and to gain our confidence, since we require several months’ observation to find out how competent you are before we are able to offer a full version, and then we do not need to arrange proofreaders to check your translation. Therefore, we would like to work with translators who can take this part time job seriously. If you are working on lots of part time translation job and just looking for another part time job, please do not apply.

Payment:

* Note: One hour refers to 1 hour of TV program other than working hour.

Our payment vary, depends on the translation standard.

The principle is: the payment for translator would depend on if we need to find our full time staff to proofread or check your quality.

Therefore, only those who CONSISTENTLY offer high standard of translation, with NO variation in quality would be able to get the payment of final proofreader.

Once we find out any serious mistake, the payment would be reduce for a long time, 3 more months until the translator show they can deliver consistent high quality standard for over 3 months. The deduction in payment would not just be on the project with the mistake, but for other projects in the coming few months.

Our payment is not very attractive, compare with our payment to translator working on other project; please learn more detail of other project.

So, if you are only interest to make more income, then this should not be a very good part time job.

Payment System:

For Part time:

The progress of our translation project will be divided into 2. Initial and final translation. Some colleagues who have less experience will do the initial translation. Then it will be passed onto the qualified translators to proofread: final translation.

After you pass our first test, we will provide you with one hour of TV program as a trial, if you can translate correctly 50% of the program, we would pay RMB50 per hour. But if the accuracy rate is less than 50%, we are afraid we will not be able to offer any payment.

After the first 1hour TV program trial, the subsequent payments would depend on the quality of your work.

For initial translator:

If accuracy rate is less than 50%, we will not offer any payment. If only 50%, we will pay RMB100 per hour.

If accuracy rate is up to 75%, we pay RMB150 per hour.

But if the accuracy rate is 100%, that means that we do not need to assign any full time staff to proofread your work hence we pay RMB250 per hour program.

For final translator:

For those with 100% accuracy, i.e we do not need to assign any full time staff to work further on your translation, we will pay RMB250 per hour program.

If you are up to final proofreader standard, but some of your translations are not up to the acceptable standard, then the penalty is: we would not pay for that particular affected job.

As final translator, should be take more responsibility. You need to ensure that the translation quality meets the standard. If you are not sure in some particular project, you can inform us, Find2Fine will find other final translators to proofread it, but you can just get the initial translation fee.

A higher pay system for choice

IF you have great confidence on your work quality, then we can offer a higher pay, but then you must be willing to accept more serious penalty for any errors.

For those with 100% accuracy and which we have paid over RMB5000 for translating subtitles, we can offer:

• RMB300 per hour of TV program translation, if you accept one month penalty. (the past job you did for us in the previous month.)

• RMB350 per hour if you accept 2 month penalty.

If you would like to have higher payments, you will need to deposit an amount equal to the duration of the penalty the will be working under.

We would assume your income is RMB1000 per month.

Therefore, you need to leave deposit either equal to the duration or that assumed income.

If you reach the level of final proofreader, you can ask your friend to work under you, but you need to be responsible for quality and mistakes. And we would still pay usual salary, even though you were not the one that did the work.

The principle is: We offer high payment, if you are willing to bear the responsibility, you can encourage others to work under you.

For full time:

After probation period, based on the above commission items, we offer RMB780 as the base salary and other employee benefits. Other than subtitle translation, we also will provide some training to you about our main translation project. i.e. Financial translation.

What is our requirement?

Different from other translation company, we are NOT only interested in translator who can perform immediately.

We would like to offer a platform for people who would like to learn, continue to upgrade themselves, even though they are not qualified at this stage.

Of course our payment to those who cannot deliver final version would be extremely unattractive.

Generally, we are expecting people who have good English standard, with great eagerness to do a good translation job.

At least, eager to try your best to get yourself familiar with US slangs and make use of every opportunity to have exposure to latest western culture.

In short, we pay more emphasis on attitude than capability.

Can I work at home or do I need to go to your office?

Theoretically, you can work at home.

Yet, you are expected to use a particular program, which we need to charge a deposit. Also, the program needs to be installed on at least P4 computer with 512 M RAM, this also means you cannot use it in an internet bar.

Your efficiency would be greatly enhanced if you can use this program to translate.

Yet, if you are not in Guangzhou or you have great preference to work from your home before both of us decide to commit on this project, you can still work in any place.

But you need to bear in mind, without that particular program, your efficiency would be greatly affected.

So, if you are not in Guangzhou, you can still work with us, if you do not mind to work in an inefficient way, without that program. But if you decided to work on a long term basis with us, on these projects, then you should buy your own PC.

Do you have any other job with more attractive payment?

In fact, our core business is financial translation, which means translation of market commentary, corporate finance document etc.

We are in serious shortage of translator and desperately looking for new team members.

Yet, this is much more demanding, in sense of financial knowledge, business knowledge and commitment.

Therefore, we never encountered any part time staffs who have never worked with us before, able to meet our requirement. IN CASE, you have VERY RICH understanding on financial market, and are willing to devote tremendous amount of time to improve your business sense you can apply to work on financial translation. But generally, this is extremely demanding and we do not recommend normal human being to try to work on us for part time basis.

On the other hand, we are desperate to recruit full time translator.

Yet, since we are extremely demanding, so only those who have great commitment and plan to take translating as their life long career should apply. Since they need tremendous effort to learn all the required knowledge, so the incomes of the first 2 years are extremely unattractive. So, if you do not plan to work as financial translator for at least over 1 decade, it will not be advisable to work on such a low pay job for the first 2 years.

For the full time translator, mainly we are looking for people who are extremely eager to work as translator for their whole life and willing to pay any price, to sacrifice all their personal life, at least for the first 2 years to learn the required skill. English standard is relatively less important. Since we believe you should be able to learn if you are hard working.
