Today I want to make some general comments, not wearing my hat as a Jardine Matheson director, but as Chairman of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce, one of whose major objectives is strengthening cooperation between Hong Kong and Guangzhou, together with the other cities of the PRD.

The Mainland-Hong Kong Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement (CEPA), which our Chamber champions, provides more room for Hong Kong businesses to expand into the Mainland market and provides scope for mainland companies to invest more in Hong Kong and to make more use of the services which Hong Kong enterprises can offer. Trade and investment facilitation can enhance the benefits of CEPA. We believe one of the key issue for Chinese companies is to build up business relations with foreign buyers, esp. the SMALL one who do not have huge bargaining power, those who cannot place the order of one container, those who only want to buy a small quantity of goods.

Which wholesale market is the place for them to go?   Yet, currently, it is hard for foreign buyers to learn detail information about these wholesale markets in English. And that's why we are dedicated to bridge this information gap.
