Today I want to make some general comments, not wearing my hat as a Jardine Matheson director, but as Chairman of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce, one of whose major objectives is strengthening cooperation between Hong Kong and Guangzhou, together with the other cities of the PRD.

The Mainland-Hong Kong Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement (CEPA), which our Chamber champions, provides more room for Hong Kong businesses to expand into the Mainland market and provides scope for mainland companies to invest more in Hong Kong and to make more use of the services which Hong Kong enterprises can offer. Trade and investment facilitation can enhance the benefits of CEPA.
